Ribosomal protein L34 pseudogene 17 (RPL34P17) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L34 gene (RPL34). Functional RPL34 (not RPL34P17) is a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit and is involved in translation and protein biosynthesis[4][1]. RPL34 has been implicated in certain cancers, but this is not the case for RPL34P17, which is non-coding[4][3]. There is no evidence to support a role for RPL34P17 in therapeutic targeting, biomarker development, or drug-interaction studies. Summary: RPL34P17 is a non-functional processed pseudogene, not a molecular target, and should not be considered for therapeutic or biomarker purposes[5].
