Overview

Ribosomal protein L34 pseudogene 24 (RPL34P24) is a non-functional genomic sequence resembling the ribosomal protein L34 gene (RPL34). Pseudogenes such as RPL34P24 result from retrotransposition events (copying of mRNA back into the genome) and are widely distributed throughout the human genome, often adjacent to retrotransposons. They do not encode a functional protein and do not participate in cellular processes such as protein synthesis; their presence is generally attributed to evolutionary relics with no current biological activity. RPL34P24 itself has multiple alternative gene identifiers (RPL34_9_1123, RPL34P24) but is not functionally related to disease, signaling, or drug activity. RPL34P24 is a human processed pseudogene with no known functional role, therapeutic relevance, disease linkage, or drug interactions. It is simply an inactive genomic sequence resembling the protein-coding RPL34 gene.
