Target intelligence / Profile preview
RPL35AP26 (ribosomal protein L35a pseudogene 26) is a human pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L35a coding gene (RPL35A). Pseudogenes like RPL35AP26 are non-functional genetic elements formed by duplication or retrotransposition of a functional gene, followed by subsequent disabling mutations. They do not produce functional proteins and typically lack biological activity. RPL35AP26 should not be confused with the functional RPL35A, a ribosomal protein involved in the large 60S ribosomal subunit, which is essential for protein synthesis and associated with certain diseases; RPL35AP26, as a processed pseudogene, is not involved in these processes
