Overview

Ribosomal protein L35a pseudogene 28 (RPL35AP28) is a pseudogene identified in the human genome that is related by sequence to the functional ribosomal protein L35a gene (RPL35A)[1][2][4]. Unlike the functional RPL35A gene, which encodes a protein component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, RPL35AP28 is categorized as a pseudogene and is not believed to encode a functional protein[2][6][10]. Pseudogenes such as RPL35AP28 result from mutations or genomic alterations that disable the gene's protein-coding function[6][10]. There is no evidence indicating RPL35AP28 is a therapeutic or pharmacological target; it is not known to be involved in disease, nor does it interact with drugs or serve as a biomarker. Its presence in the genome may be of interest for evolutionary or genetic regulatory studies, but it does not possess biological activity analogous to the functional ribosomal protein L35a gene[1][2][10].
