Ribosomal protein L35a pseudogene 29 (RPL35AP29) is a processed pseudogene derived from the functional gene *RPL35A*, which encodes a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit[8]. RPL35AP29 itself does not encode a functional protein; instead, it represents a non-functional genomic sequence that arose via retrotransposition of the parental gene RPL35A[8]. Pseudogenes like RPL35AP29 are generally not expressed as functional proteins and do not serve as therapeutic targets, nor do they have known direct biological or disease-related roles. Their identification is primarily relevant for genomic annotation and evolutionary studies rather than for pharmacological intervention. The functional RPL35A gene has established roles in protein synthesis and is associated with certain disorders (such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia), but RPL35AP29 does not participate in these biological processes[1][7][8].
