Ribosomal protein L35a pseudogene 38 (RPL35AP38) is a pseudogene related to the gene encoding ribosomal protein L35a (RPL35A), which is part of the large (60S) ribosomal subunit and involved in protein synthesis. Unlike its functional paralog, RPL35AP38 does not encode a functional protein. It is distinct from RPL35A, which is associated with diseases such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia and is essential for ribosomal function[1][3][5][6]. As a processed pseudogene, RPL35AP38 is not considered a therapeutic target, does not have an established role in biological pathways, disease processes, or drug interactions, and is usually not included in functional annotation categories such as enzymes, receptors, or transcription factors[6]. No evidence supports a functional biological role or therapeutic relevance for RPL35AP38. This entry is present for genomic annotation but not for protein targeting or drug discovery purposes. The inclusion of a pseudogene as a therapeutic target is therefore incorrect.
