Ribosomal protein L36 pseudogene 7 (RPL36P7) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome that shares sequence similarity with the functional ribosomal protein L36 gene (RPL36) but does not encode a functional protein[1][6][11][12]. Like other ribosomal protein pseudogenes, it arose by retrotransposition of the parental ribosomal protein gene and is usually nonfunctional, lacking biological activity[10]. There is no evidence to suggest that RPL36P7 acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, transcription factor, or therapeutic target. No therapeutic, diagnostic, or safety-related roles have been described for this pseudogene in disease or drug response.
