Ribosomal protein L36a pseudogene 19 (RPL36AP19) is classified as a processed pseudogene in the human genome. It is a non-coding DNA sequence that arises from reverse transcription of an mRNA (in this case, from the parental RPL36A gene), followed by integration back into the genome. RPL36AP19 does not encode a functional protein and lacks gene function, as is typical for pseudogenes. It is not involved in known cellular processes, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic targeting. The presence of multiple such pseudogenes in the genome is common for ribosomal protein gene families, but there is no evidence that RPL36AP19 acquires new functions or regulatory roles in humans.
