Ribosomal protein L36a pseudogene 2 (RPL36AP2) is classified as a processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein L36a gene. It does not encode a functional protein and is not implicated directly in therapeutic targeting, drug interaction, or disease mechanisms. Like many ribosomal protein pseudogenes, RPL36AP2 originates from genetic duplication or retrotransposition events. Although most pseudogenes are considered non-functional, some may participate in regulatory roles via noncoding RNA mechanisms, such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs or generating small RNAs that could regulate parental gene expression. However, there is no evidence that RPL36AP2 specifically has any such roles or clinical relevance[1][2][6][10].
