Overview

RPL36AP39, or ribosomal protein L36a pseudogene 39, is a processed pseudogene derived from the parental RPL36A gene that encodes a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit in humans[5][9][10][14][16][18]. RPL36AP39 does not encode a functional protein, lacks described biological functions, and is not used as a drug or biomarker target. Its presence in the human genome reflects the frequent creation of ribosomal protein gene pseudogenes, typical for genes encoding highly expressed, essential ribosomal proteins. There is currently no evidence for a functional role or disease association related to this pseudogene[14][16][18].
