Ribosomal protein L36a pseudogene 47 (RPL36AP47) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome with sequence similarity to the functional ribosomal protein gene RPL36A. Unlike protein-coding genes, RPL36AP47 does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes like RPL36AP47 may have regulatory RNA functions, such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs or miRNA sponges, but they do not have direct enzymatic, transporter, receptor, or transcription factor activity.
