Overview

Ribosomal protein L36a pseudogene 53 (RPL36AP53) is a pseudogene derived from the gene encoding ribosomal protein L36a, a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[1][4][6]. RPL36AP53 itself does not code for a functional protein and is not known to encode any product[1][6]. There are many ribosomal protein pseudogenes in the human genome, suggesting potential regulatory functions, but no direct evidence exists for RPL36AP53 as a functional protein or drug target. Currently, it is not a recognized therapeutic target, and there are no drugs or established disease associations specific to this pseudogene[1][4][6]. It may have very limited or tissue-specific expression, as is typical for ribosomal protein pseudogenes, but its biological significance is unproven[1][4][6].
