Ribosomal protein L37 pseudogene 1 (RPL37P1) is a *processed pseudogene* of the RPL37 gene, which encodes a protein component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit[1][4][10]. As a pseudogene, RPL37P1 does not encode a functional protein, and is not believed to be transcribed or to have any known direct, consistent biological or disease-related function. Pseudogenes like RPL37P1 are remnants of gene duplications or retrotransposition events, and, while most are nonfunctional, there is emerging evidence that some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles via RNA transcripts, although no such function is known or described for RPL37P1 specifically[1][4][8]. RPL37P1 is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it associated with any known drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker roles. Its main relevance is as a genomic feature, and it does not participate in protein synthesis or encode a functional ribosomal protein[1][4][10].
