Ribosomal protein L37 pseudogene 3 (RPL37P3) is a processed pseudogene on chromosome 21 in humans. It derives from the ribosomal protein L37 gene (RPL37), but unlike the functional RPL37, RPL37P3 does not encode a protein and lacks normal gene regulatory elements such as promoters and introns. Pseudogenes like RPL37P3 typically arise from duplication or retrotransposition events during evolution. RPL37P3 is not transcribed into functional mRNA and does not contribute to ribosome structure or function, and is not recognized as a therapeutic, pharmacological, or clinical target.
