Ribosomal protein L41 pseudogene 5 (RPL41P5)

Target
RPL41P5
Molecular classification
Processed pseudogene
01

Overview

RPL41P5, or ribosomal protein L41 pseudogene 5, is a processed pseudogene corresponding to the functional ribosomal protein L41 gene. Unlike the functional RPL41 gene, which encodes 60S ribosomal protein L41 important for ribosome structure and protein synthesis, RPL41P5 itself does not code for a functional protein product. As a pseudogene, it typically lacks regulatory regions or accumulates disabling mutations, preventing it from contributing to canonical ribosomal function or known signaling pathways. Consequently, RPL41P5 is not involved in known biological pathways or therapeutic mechanisms, and there is no therapeutic, diagnostic, or drug interaction relevance associated with it. Pseudogenes like RPL41P5 are widespread in the genome and arise from duplication or retrotransposition events.
