Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein L5 pseudogene 19 (RPL5P19) is a non-coding genomic DNA sequence derived from the ribosomal protein L5 gene (RPL5) and categorized as a processed pseudogene. Unlike the functional RPL5 gene, which encodes a core component of the 60S ribosomal subunit important in ribosome assembly and possibly tumor suppression, RPL5P19 does not produce a protein and currently has no known biological function, disease association, or relevance as a therapeutic target. As with most ribosomal protein pseudogenes, RPL5P19 represents a remnant of gene duplication and genome evolution, dispersed through the human genome.
