Overview

Ribosomal protein L5 pseudogene 25 (RPL5P25) is a processed pseudogene present in the human genome. Pseudogenes are DNA segments that resemble known genes but typically do not encode functional proteins due to mutations, deletions, or insertions interrupting their coding sequence. RPL5P25 is derived from the ribosomal protein L5 gene (RPL5), an important component of the ribosome, but, unlike the intact RPL5 gene, RPL5P25 does not produce functional RNA or protein and is not involved in ribosome biogenesis or cellular signaling pathways.
