RPL6P20 is a processed pseudogene in the human genome corresponding to ribosomal protein L6[2][3][8]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like RPL6P20 are generally non-functional DNA sequences that arise from retrotransposition or duplication events of ancestral genes. RPL6P20 is one of many pseudogenes created from the parent functional gene RPL6, which encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[1][8]. Pseudogenes typically do not produce functional proteins and lack biological activity, serving mainly as genomic fossils and sometimes as regulators at the RNA level. RPL6P20 is not considered a drug target, is not implicated in disease, and has no known pharmacological or biomarker associations[2][3][8]. This target is not a therapeutic target.
