Target intelligence / Profile preview
RPL6P6 (Ribosomal protein L6 pseudogene 6) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, derived from the functional ribosomal protein L6 (RPL6) gene[6]. It does not produce a functional protein and is one of many ribosomal protein pseudogenes spread throughout the human genome as a result of evolutionary retrotransposition events[6]. Pseudogenes like RPL6P6 may show high sequence similarity to their parent protein-coding genes but typically contain mutations or truncations that prevent expression of functional protein. RPL6P6 is not considered a therapeutic target, is not involved in human diseases, and is not used in drug discovery or biomarker development.
