Overview

Ribosomal protein L6 pseudogene 9 (RPL6P9) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the parent ribosomal protein L6 gene, which encodes a structural protein component of the 60S subunit of the ribosome. Pseudogenes such as RPL6P9 do not produce functional protein products, lack known therapeutic, pharmacological, or biomarker roles, and are not considered targets for drug development or biological intervention. There are multiple ribosomal protein L6 pseudogenes dispersed throughout the genome, resulting from retrotranspositional duplication processes. RPL6P9 is documented in genetic databases but has no known functional significance in normal physiology or disease.
