Pseudogenes such as RPL7L1P16 typically arise from retrotransposition or duplication events and do not produce a functional protein product[5]. While parent ribosomal protein genes are crucial for ribosome structure and essential cellular protein synthesis[1], pseudogenes are considered noncoding DNA, and RPL7L1P16 has no established biological function or involvement in disease or therapy. Processed pseudogenes of ribosomal protein genes are common throughout the human genome, and they do not encode active receptors, transporters, enzymes, or other established drug targets[5].
