RPL7L1 pseudogene 3 (RPL7L1P3) is a non-coding pseudogene in the human genome, designated as such by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC ID: HGNC:39486). Pseudogenes are gene sequences with high homology to known coding genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements for expression. RPL7L1P3 shares sequence identity with RPL7L1, a ribosomal protein paralog, but does not participate in ribosomal function or other active biological processes. RPL7L1P3 does not encode a protein and is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target[5][1][2][7]. Most research and disease associations discussed in the literature relate to the protein-coding RPL7L1 (Ribosomal protein L7-like 1), not the RPL7L1P3 pseudogene. The pseudogene itself does not have recognized biological roles, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance. The functional RPL7L1 protein (not RPL7L1P3) is implicated in ribosomal assembly and, according to recent pan-cancer analyses, may function as a biomarker or prognostic indicator for multiple cancers[4][3]. Findings about RPL7L1 do not apply to RPL7L1P3, except by potential confusion or misannotation.
