Overview

RPL7P10, also referred to as ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 10, is one of many processed pseudogenes dispersed through the human genome and shares sequence homology with the functional ribosomal protein L7 (RPL7) gene[8][10]. Unlike RPL7, which encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[1][7], RPL7P10 does not encode a functional protein[10][11]. Its categorization as a pseudogene means it generally lacks biological activity, does not serve as a therapeutic target, and has no described roles in disease, drug interaction, or biomarker utility. The presence of numerous ribosomal protein pseudogenes reflects frequent genomic duplication and retrotransposition events during evolution[5]. There are no known drugs or clinical applications relating to RPL7P10. Biological functions, disease roles, and molecular interactions pertain to the parent gene, RPL7, not its pseudogene derivatives[1][7].
