RPL7P14 is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L7 (RPL7) gene in humans. Unlike the functional RPL7 gene, which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit and is involved in translation, RPL7P14 does not code for any functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target[3][4][5]. Pseudogenes like RPL7P14 are generally derived from functional ribosomal protein genes through genomic duplication or retrotransposition, and while the sequence similarity exists, their biological role is usually limited or absent[4][7].
