Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 2 (RPL7P2) is a non-coding DNA sequence derived from the ribosomal protein L7 gene. While the parent gene RPL7 encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit and plays a role in protein synthesis and autoimmune processes, RPL7P2 itself does not produce a functional protein and is classified as a processed pseudogene[1][4][5]. It is the product of retrotransposition events and is commonly found throughout the human genome as part of a large, dispersed family of ribosomal protein pseudogenes[5]. Due to the lack of protein-coding capability, RPL7P2 is not considered a target for drug development, disease association, or biomarker studies. RPL7P2 is a processed pseudogene, not a therapeutic target, and does not have protein-coding function, disease relevance, or known drug interactions[1][4][5].
