Overview

Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 27 (RPL7P27) is a **processed pseudogene** in the human genome, derived from the parental ribosomal protein L7 gene (RPL7). Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are generally non-coding and do not produce functional proteins due to disabling mutations or lack of regulatory elements. RPL7P27 does not code for a functional protein and is not known to possess any independent biological function or therapeutic relevance. It may exist as a result of genomic duplication, a common feature among ribosomal protein genes, which have numerous processed pseudogenes dispersed throughout the genome[1][3][6][7]. There is no evidence for RPL7P27 as a therapeutic target, involvement in drug interactions, or a validated role as a biomarker or disease gene.
