Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 44 (RPL7P44) is a processed pseudogene derived from the functional RPL7 gene, which encodes a ribosomal protein of the 60S subunit. Pseudogenes like RPL7P44 are non-protein-coding DNA segments that resemble known genes but have lost their protein-coding potential through evolution. RPL7P44 does not produce a functional protein and is not known to have direct biological or disease relevance[8][9][10]. While some ribosomal pseudogenes have been implicated in biological regulation at the RNA level, there is no robust evidence for such a function in the case of RPL7P44 specifically.
