Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 50 (RPL7P50) is one of numerous processed pseudogenes in the human genome that originated from the ribosomal protein L7 (RPL7) gene. Unlike the functional RPL7 gene, which encodes a protein involved in ribosome structure and protein synthesis[1][3][11], RPL7P50 does not produce a functional protein and does not perform known regulatory or catalytic roles. Pseudogenes are typically non-coding DNA elements that arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events; while some pseudogenes can play minor regulatory functions, RPL7P50 itself has no confirmed biological or disease-related role[2][4][7].
