Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 56 (RPL7P56) is a processed, non-coding pseudogene in the human genome.[1][8][10] It originated from retrotransposition of the parent RPL7 gene, which encodes a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis. RPL7P56, like most ribosomal protein pseudogenes, does not produce a functional protein, lacks a regulatory promoter, and is not known to be transcribed into a protein or implicated in human disease or therapeutic targeting. There are numerous processed pseudogenes of ribosomal protein genes such as RPL7 distributed throughout the human genome, representing remnants of evolutionary genetic events without current biological function in protein synthesis or disease[10].
