Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 57 (RPL7P57) is a processed pseudogene resulting from duplication or retrotransposition of the RPL7 gene, which encodes a component of the large (60S) ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis in the cell[7][2][10]. Pseudogenes such as RPL7P57 typically do not encode functional protein products, and there is no evidence that this pseudogene has therapeutic, biomarker, or disease-associated activity. It mainly exists as a nonfunctional genomic element and is not considered a drug target or receptor[7][2]. RPL7P57 is a pseudogene, not a functional receptor, enzyme, or target molecule. It is a noncoding DNA sequence derived from a protein-coding gene (RPL7)[2][7][10]. There is no evidence that RPL7P57 itself is involved in disease, drug response, or other biological processes that would qualify it as a therapeutic target. The parental gene, RPL7, encodes a ribosomal protein involved in ribosome structure and function, but pseudogenes (such as RPL7P57) generally lack such activities and are not expressed as functional proteins[1][4]. Large numbers of ribosomal protein pseudogenes are common throughout the human genome and are not unique to RPL7[10].
