Overview

Ribosomal protein L7 pseudogene 7 (RPL7P7) is a processed pseudogene found in the human genome. It is derived from the RPL7 gene, which encodes the 60S ribosomal protein L7, a component of the large ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis. As a pseudogene, RPL7P7 does not encode a functional protein product and is generally considered non-coding and non-functional. Such ribosomal protein pseudogenes are common in the genome and arise mainly through retrotransposition events; they generally have no biological function, no direct role in disease, and are not considered therapeutic targets. RPL7P7 is distinct from the functional RPL7 gene, which encodes a protein participating in translation as part of the ribosome. Like other pseudogenes, RPL7P7 is a genomic relic, not expressed as a functional protein. There are no known drugs, disease associations, or mechanisms of action connected to this pseudogene.
