"Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 25" (RPL7AP25) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome[5][12][6][8]. It is a non-functional copy of the ribosomal protein L7a gene (RPL7A) and therefore does not produce a protein product[5]. Pseudogenes like RPL7AP25 arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lack regulatory or coding function. RPL7AP25 does not participate in ribosomal protein synthesis and is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or similar molecule[5][12]. There are no known biological functions, disease roles, or drug interactions associated with this pseudogene. RPL7AP25 is distinct from the functional gene RPL7A (which encodes a ribosomal protein involved in the 60S ribosomal subunit and cellular protein synthesis)[1][3][4], but RPL7AP25 itself does not result in any gene product or known function[5][10][12]. It is listed and tracked as a pseudogene by major nomenclature committees and genetic databases[5][12].
