Overview

Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 30 (RPL7AP30) is a processed pseudogene located in the human genome that originates from retrotransposition of the functional ribosomal protein L7a (RPL7A) gene. Unlike the parent gene RPL7A, which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit and participates in protein synthesis, RPL7AP30 does not produce a functional protein, lacks coding potential, and is categorized as a noncoding genomic element[7][8]. Pseudogenes like RPL7AP30 result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events but generally accumulate mutations or truncations that render them inactive. They are not considered molecular drug targets and have no known direct biological or therapeutic relevance[5][7]. This entry is not regarded as a therapeutic target since it is a noncoding pseudogene rather than a protein-coding gene, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or functional molecular target.
