RPL7AP36, also known as ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 36, is a human pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L7a (RPL7A)[4][6]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they do not encode active proteins and lack biological or therapeutic activity. RPL7AP36 does not code for a protein, does not participate in canonical ribosomal or molecular functions, and is unrelated to direct disease mechanisms or therapeutic drug interactions[4][6]. The functional RPL7A gene encodes a structural constituent of the ribosome, but RPL7AP36 is one of the multiple processed pseudogenes derived from it which are dispersed through the human genome[1][5]. These pseudogenes typically arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and lack regulatory sequences needed for transcription or translation[5]. There is no evidence from current search results that RPL7AP36 functions as a biomarker, is linked to disease roles, interacts with drugs, or poses safety concerns.
