Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 37 (RPL7AP37)

Target
RPL7AP37
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA locus
01

Overview

Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 37 (RPL7AP37) is a nonfunctional, processed pseudogene in the human genome. It shares sequence homology with the functional ribosomal protein L7a gene (RPL7A), which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis. As a pseudogene, RPL7AP37 is not transcribed into a functional protein and is considered biologically inactive with respect to protein-coding roles[1][2]. Pseudogenes like RPL7AP37 are often remnants of once-functional genes but do not contribute directly to canonical ribosomal function or to therapeutic targeting[1][5].

Biological functions

Other (no known protein-coding or catalytic function; derived from ribosomal protein L7a gene)
