Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 41 (RPL7AP41) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome associated with the ribosomal protein L7a (RPL7A) gene family[1][4][10][11][14]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they arise through the duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes but acquire mutations that prevent them from encoding a functional protein. As with other ribosomal protein pseudogenes, RPL7AP41 is not believed to produce a protein product or have a known biological function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, does not encode a druggable entity, and has no established relevance to disease, biomarkers, or pharmacology. References about “ribosomal protein L7a” generally refer to the functional gene RPL7A, not its pseudogenes.
