Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 64 (RPL7AP64) is a human processed pseudogene related to the gene encoding ribosomal protein L7a (RPL7A), which is a component of the 60S subunit of cytoplasmic ribosomes. Unlike the functional gene, pseudogenes like RPL7AP64 generally do not encode functional proteins, are not transcribed, and have no known biological activity or role in disease. They are considered genomic relics of duplicated or retrotransposed gene copies that have lost coding capability[7][5][4].
