Overview

Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 69 (RPL7AP69) is a non-functional genomic DNA sequence that originated from the reverse transcription and genomic integration of the mRNA of the RPL7A gene, which encodes a protein component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit. Unlike the parent protein-coding gene RPL7A—which is responsible for protein synthesis as part of the ribosome—RPL7AP69 does not code for a functional protein[1][4]. Pseudogenes like RPL7AP69 can occasionally have regulatory or post-transcriptional roles, but there is no current evidence for such functionality for this pseudogene. It is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or druggable entity, and has no established clinical or biomarker roles[8][13].
