RPL7AP83 (Ribosomal protein L7a pseudogene 83) is a human processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein L7a gene, which encodes a protein involved in cytoplasmic ribosome function in its functional form[1][7][5]. Pseudogenes generally resemble their parental genes but lack protein-coding capability due to mutations or truncations, and RPL7AP83 does not generate a functional protein product, nor does it play a recognized direct role in human biology or disease. Although a minority of pseudogenes are transcribed and, very rarely, translated into peptides in some tissues, the translation products are usually functionally irrelevant, and RPL7AP83 itself has not been described as either functional or disease-associated[2][4][10]. This target is not suitable for therapeutic development or drug interaction studies because it does not encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other targetable protein. Its main relevance is in genomic annotation as a member of the large family of ribosomal protein pseudogenes.
