Overview

RPLP0P2 (ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P0 pseudogene 2) is a processed pseudogene located on chromosome 11 and related by homology to the ribosomal protein P0, a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis. Unlike protein-coding genes, RPLP0P2 does not produce a functional protein and is considered non-functional in terms of molecular and therapeutic targeting. Its existence reflects the evolutionary history and retrotranspositional activity in the human genome. Pseudogenes like RPLP0P2 are commonly found throughout the genome as remnants of once-functional genes, but they generally do not contribute to ribosome structure or function.

Mechanism of action

None (no mechanism, as it is not a functional molecular target)

03

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene, it does not encode a functional protein and has no direct biological function)
04

Disease associations

None directly (pseudogenes rarely have direct disease associations, although pseudogene-derived RNAs can occasionally be implicated in disease processes in general, but there is no evidence for RPLP0P2 specifically)
05

Safety considerations

None (not a target of pharmacological or diagnostic relevance)
06

Interacting drugs

None (no drugs are known to interact with pseudogenes)
07

Biomarkers

None (not used as a biomarker according to current reports)
