Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P1 pseudogene 10 (RPLP1P10) is a processed pseudogene derived from the gene encoding the large ribosomal protein P1 (RPLP1), which is part of the lateral stalk of the cytoplasmic ribosome. As a pseudogene, RPLP1P10 contains sequence similarity to the original RPLP1 gene but is not expected to encode a functional protein due to the presence of disabling mutations or truncations[3]. Pseudogenes of ribosomal proteins are common in the human genome and arise via retrotransposition or DNA duplication mechanisms. While a few ribosomal pseudogenes in general can play regulatory roles at the RNA level (impacting immune response or other cellular pathways[1]), there is no known evidence that RPLP1P10 itself encodes a functional RNA with biological significance. RPLP1P10 is not a therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.) and does not have known direct disease associations or biomarker value. Like most pseudogenes, its importance is mainly in the context of genome evolution and possible, but undocumented, roles in gene regulation.
None relevant for drugs (may possibly have RNA-based regulatory effects, but none described for this pseudogene)
