RPLP1P11 (ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P1 pseudogene 11) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P1 (RPLP1)[1][3][6]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but generally non-functional due to disabling mutations or lack of regulatory elements[4]. Mammals often have hundreds or thousands of ribosomal protein pseudogenes scattered throughout the genome as remnants of historical gene duplication or retrotransposition events[4]. Unlike the functional RPLP1 gene, which encodes part of the ribosome's 60S subunit, RPLP1P11 does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in cellular processes such as protein synthesis, signaling, cell cycle, or disease pathogenesis[1][4][5][7][8]. There is no evidence that RPLP1P11 or related pseudogenes are active participants in disease, therapeutic mechanisms, or drug interactions[1][3][6].
