Ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P1 pseudogene 13 (RPLP1P13) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene in the human genome, designated by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC:41973). It is classified as a pseudogene because it derives from the sequence of the functional RPLP1 gene but is not expressed as a functional protein product and lacks any known physiological or pathological role[2][7]. The parent gene, RPLP1, encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit important for protein synthesis, but pseudogenes such as RPLP1P13 typically arise through retrotransposition events and are scattered throughout the genome with no direct biological activity[4]. There are no known drug interactions, disease associations, or cellular functions for RPLP1P13. It is not considered a valid therapeutic target, and there is no evidence of pseudogene-derived function or relevance in biomarker or drug safety contexts.
