Ribosomal protein S11 pseudogene 5 (RPS11P5) is classified as a processed pseudogene based on sequence homology to the functional ribosomal protein S11 gene (RPS11)[2][4][5]. Pseudogenes like RPS11P5 are generally noncoding, meaning they do not encode a functional protein and lack biological activity typical of canonical therapeutic targets[12]. They may sometimes be transcribed, but are not themselves involved in drug–target interactions, catalysis, cellular signaling, or disease pathogenesis in the same manner as active protein-coding genes. RPS11P5 is essentially a genomic fossil reflecting the evolutionary history of the ribosomal protein S11 gene and does not have a recognized role as a drug target, biomarker, or source of therapeutic concern[2][12].
