Overview

Ribosomal protein S12 pseudogene 27 (RPS12P27) is a processed pseudogene derived from the RPS12 gene, which encodes part of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Unlike functional genes, pseudogenes are gene sequences that have lost their ability to code for a protein due to accumulated mutations and sequence disablements[7][3][5]. These sequences are generally considered non-functional and are not involved directly in protein synthesis, cellular signaling, or disease mechanisms. There is no evidence that RPS12P27 plays a role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or as a target for any known drugs. It is not considered a therapeutic target and has no established role in disease or as a biomarker.
