Ribosomal protein S13 pseudogene 3 (RPS13P3) is a non-functional processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the ribosomal protein S13 gene (RPS13)[3][8]. Unlike the functional RPS13 gene, which encodes a component of the small 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[1][5], RPS13P3 does not encode a protein and is not known to be expressed, interact with drugs, or participate in biological pathways. Pseudogenes such as RPS13P3 typically arise through genomic duplication or retrotransposition events, and while some pseudogenes have regulatory functions or disease associations, there is no evidence for such roles in RPS13P3[3][8].
