Ribosomal protein S15 pseudogene 9 (RPS15P9) is a genomic sequence closely related to the parental *RPS15* gene but is classified as a processed pseudogene[6]. Pseudogenes like RPS15P9 are generated through duplication or retrotransposition events and typically accumulate mutations that prevent them from being expressed as functional proteins. There are over 2,000 ribosomal protein pseudogenes in the human genome, representing relics of evolutionary duplication, but they are generally nonfunctional and not directly involved in cell biology or disease[6]. RPS15P9 is not a viable drug or therapeutic target and does not encode a ribosomal or regulatory protein[6]. Ribosomal protein S15 itself is a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit and essential to ribosome function and protein synthesis in live cells, but pseudogenes derived from it, such as RPS15P9, have no known coding potential or functional roles in cellular processes, diseases, or drug response[6][3][4].
