Ribosomal protein S15a pseudogene 13 (RPS15AP13) is a non-coding sequence in the human genome related by sequence homology to the functional ribosomal protein S15a gene (RPS15A), which is a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein biosynthesis[3][4][5]. RPS15AP13, however, is classified as a processed pseudogene, meaning it does not code for a functional protein and has no known direct role in biological processes or disease, nor does it serve as a drug target or therapeutic biomarker[3][4][5]. There are multiple processed pseudogenes similar to RPS15A found throughout the human genome; these typically do not yield functional products[4]. Pseudogenes typically do not have direct biological functions; however, some may have regulatory RNA roles, but no evidence supports this for RPS15AP13[3].
