Overview

Ribosomal protein S15a pseudogene 27 (RPS15AP27) is a processed pseudogene located on chromosome 9 (GRCh37: 110,725,984-110,726,326, reverse strand) in the human genome. It is a non-functional genomic sequence that originated from the parental ribosomal protein S15a (RPS15A) gene via retrotransposition and does not produce a protein product. Pseudogenes like RPS15AP27 are widespread in the genome and generally lack biological function, although rare pseudogenes elsewhere are known to be transcribed or functionally active. There is no evidence that RPS15AP27 plays a role in human disease or serves as a therapeutic target. No current data suggest RPS15AP27 has a functional role or relevance to drug interaction, disease, or biomarker utility. It is classified strictly as a pseudogene and not as a therapeutic target.
