Ribosomal protein S15a pseudogene 36 (RPS15AP36) is a human pseudogene—an inactive, nonprotein-coding DNA segment derived from the parental ribosomal protein S15a gene. Unlike functional ribosomal protein genes, RPS15AP36 does not encode a functional protein and is not a recognized therapeutic target. Pseudogenes like RPS15AP36 are generated by inaccurate duplication or retrotransposition and typically accumulate disabling mutations that disrupt their coding potential. While a small subset of pseudogenes have regulatory RNA roles, there is no evidence RPS15AP36 is involved in disease, drug response, or functional molecular pathways[1][6][7][8].
